Disabled cyclist Simon Richardson ,double gold medal winner in Beijing who would have been a medal contender in this years Para Olympics if he hadnt been hit off his bike and badly injured , was picked to light the Paralympic Flame in Cardiff.
He was hit by a hit and run driver who was over the drink drive limit when arrested. It came out in court that the driver couldnt read a number plate at an incredible 2 meters even with glasses. He claimed he thought he had hit a sheep.
If you know someone who really shouldnt be driving do the decent thing and report them to the police before something like this occurs better before than after.
