Not all roads are eight lanes wide over here, "here" for the post in question being Shipley, in West Yorkshire.

Owabout we don't derail the thread any further?

Why, are you not capable of entertaining more than one subject at a time? Merely asking for clarification. You go into a pub,, someone starts a conversation, then another brings up another topic, do you then say stop, we are only talking about "....."? You wouldn't last long.
Obviously. I am assuming you are not in the UK.

Same in the UK. It is an offence to break the law in order to facilitate an emergency vehicle.

Are you sure? You seem very shy of saying where "here" is...

Not at all 'shy'. I have said on other parts of this forum I live on the Upper Texas Gulf Coast. I used to live in Norwich, Bircham, Bickley, Bromley, Cambridge, Silver End and Balsham. Also Connecticut and Colorado.

Quite easy keeping multiple conversations going, with different people(On different threads on here). But I'd not turn to the person I was talking to about one thing and start talking about something I were talking to another about. And if somebody were to jump in with a half baked answer about how they'd do similar somewhere else, they'd receive a similar short "request" from myself, as was made here. Possibly with a very sharp reminder that they were talking about a very different situation to that they mentioned.

Now, owabout we stay on about cyclists who jump/run redlights. It is after all what I did, and I explained my reasons for doing so.

Unless you know that the outcome of the emergency call was the death of a patient because of a delay of a few seconds your conscience will soon clear up about it.

Ok, what about a fire engine trying to get to a house fire where people are trapped? An ambulance trying to get to someone in cardiac arrest? Police trying to reach someone being attacked? In these scenarios and many more, seconds count. And for those few seconds where some self righteous driver has refused to budge because the law says it's wrong, multiply those seconds by however many similar junctions the emergency vehicle might have to pass through. Then we're talking munutes, not seconds. Could be the difference between life and death, and it might be your family or loved one.

Unless its a one street traffic in the opposing direction should be giving way to allow the emergency vehicles through on the wrong side of the road.

Mod Note:
As @classic33 noted, this is not the pub but an online forum.
By convention and for the enjoyment of the membership, it's polite to keep to one topic for one thread, as per the thread's title.
Cheers from the mods!
