Also on a country vein - Willie Nelson. I've never been a big fan of his voice but you can't deny the many great songs he wrote, including huge hits for others like Elvis, Patsy Cline and Roy Orbison. I forgot the name of whoever recorded Hello Walls first, but I think he wrote it too.

I keep listening to Neil Diamond....i am constantly amazed by just how much good stuff he has done.

He wrote a lot of good songs that were made famous by other artists.

Unlike Bob Dylan who wrote a lot of famous songs that were made good by other artists

Fish era Marillion, he definitely had a way with words, Script For a Jesters Tears, Forgotten Sons, Garden Party, Punch & Judy not forgetting Kayleigh,which he wrote about splitting up with his long term girlfriend as Marillion were set to go on a massive tour after becoming famous
