Tonight’s a very nice 12yo Clynelish. Came as a “mystery” bottle from Masters of Malt. No peat but almost citrussy overtones.

i quite like the lidl islay single malt as an affordable option .

I keep meaning to try one of them, Ithink they have three. Maybe I'll take the plunge.

I have to admit that although I usually add a drop of water, I had that tot neat, taking very small sips and savouring the oily intensity. It's cask strength so it can be a bit fierce.

'Each to his own' etc but I have tried 2 of the 3 Lidl malts** and found that I prefer the Aldi equivilent.
** said before, I dont like the smokey/peaty ones and 2 of the Aldi ones suited me more.

I'll usually drink anything but I found that Lidl smokey one grim, like double strength TCP

I found the Aldi malts to be too easy drinking due to lacking depth and body.
Cheap enough, and tasty enough but the equivalent of a cheap bottle of plonk.

Do you have a similar priced one that you prefer so its more 'like for like'?
