Looks like the Ridley might be a 2009-2010 Orion - ? - with 10 speed Shimano 105 and Swissside wheels. OK, but old now.

Okay for someone starting out?

Absolutely. Having picked up a Swissside aluminium wheel set recently they're decent. Mine are the lighter Gottherd and these look to be the more robust Heidi/Franc.

I'd guess the bike is £175-200 in parts so anything less is worth buying.
