France or Wales this year.

England to have a few losses - the first of which could be today.
Not convinced it'll be today, but none of it is nailed on. I do like Lancaster's lineup, with a promising pack. Shame Waldrom's going back to Leicester this weekend, I really rate him, but with Stevens or Marler joining Corbesiero either side of Hartley and Croft and Dowson on the back row, I think the new mix is exciting. I just hope they have gelled. We'll know by ten past five..........

Rugby - a game for thugs played by Gentlemen

Football - a game for Gentlemen, played by thugs.

My prediction this weekend would with the 3 home teams, France, Scotland, Ireland, with the Ireland Wales game being the tightest to call.

I was thinking (only very briefly) of flying out for the Italy v England game as whenever I see the Stadio Flaminio on TV it's always really sunny and looks fantastic. Apparently they're not playing there this time but at the Stadio Olympico which isn't quite as nice

Ah, rugby. A field full of lumbering hippos that make Sunday league football like watching Brazil.
One of my favourite folk-punk singers is from Hawick-ish area. Champion Dougie Veitch. He was the influence back in the day. Inspired african, country, reggae, scottish mix with a MASSIVE chip on his shoulder, a preponderance for drink and a not very nice attitude towards fighting with members of his own audience. He was ripped off by the London punk folk scene (Pogues, Men They Couldn't Hang etc) but was rescued by the love of a good woman and moved back to the Scottish Borders. Last I heard, does trad. Scottish Folk.
Shurley a deep fried mars bar, User? Chips are so commonplace in Scotchland these days...
Scotland 15 England 27 - it was a good game. ;)

Italy made good account of themselves. France did what France do so well, score from turnover ball and awesome counter attack. I think the French forwards were either complacent or idle..... the Italian front row got the better of them a time or two, and Parisse was of course superb. Not France's most glorious game, we've seen far better from them. I said this last year, you can't underestimate the massive boost of skill that top drawer European Rugby has given to sides like Italy.

I thought there was some good handling from the Italians but overall they were below par imo.

The French newbies played well. I think it's a team that'll only get better. A good start to the tournament for them even if they didn't face any sustained pressure.
