Scotland are the best team in the tournament.
No, you don't seem to have followed the thread. We are shite, utter bollocks, the wooden spoon is ours, we are desperately useless

Why we're binning Cotter is beyond me.

I think Townsend will get more out of the team. If not, I'll kick the twat in the nuts as I seem to sometimes use a similar running route to him albeit in a different direction and he seem much fitter and faster than me. Which isnae too hard.

You are quite right. The BBC homepage has us drinking beer and Wales chucking it away because they made an arse of a penalty.

Blimey. But for the cursed French, Scotland would be on course for a grand slam and could still win couldn't they if Ireland beat England. Not sure, scootles off to check the table....

I said a few weeks ago they should have gone for the 4th try and a bonus point in the last minute against Ireland.

Edit: Oh yeah and beat England....

I am a bit conflicted about this afternoons game - I want to see England get a good win - and a bonus point - but I don't really want to see the Azzurri getting a beating

There is some question about who said what - in some reports "he was disappointed to lose his contract" in others "he told them"

So not quite "his choice".

I loved Townsend as a player and he's done very well with the Warriors, I'm just not sure he's the right fit for the national side.

Bonus points and overall points difference could be important so England have to look for 50 points. But I agree that seeing Italy thrashed isn't good for the tournament and the team.

Italy have had some fabulous players over the years but have never seemed capable of putting a team on the pitch.

I wonder if it's maybe time to change things a bit in NH rugby? A home nations vs euro sides (France, Italy, Georgia, Romania) tournament? Teams play in their respective groups then the top two of each play a semi final for the chance to face each other.

That's random thinking out loud and I suspect getting a bit close to a sort of European World Cup.

I did wonder if Scotland kicking that penalty late on against Wales was a mistake. I know it moved them more than two tries clear, but the 4 try bonus point could become very important at the end of the tournament if the Scots manage to beat England. It's possible that Scotland could win the Triple Crown, and still finish a point behind England/Ireland in the tournament.

It gives teams who are winning or losing something to play for even when the result is decided well before the end. In the 6 nations it should mean that the championship isn't just decided by who can put the most points past Italy. There are some uses to it, especially in a small tournament like the 6 nations.
