Anybody use a skipping rope? Is there anything that you should look for in a rope and how hard is it to do without tripping up?

I prefer leather ones myself - more weight to them (and they feel nice ooh err:smile:)

The ones I liked where an Everlast leather rope with weighted handles (gives the lower arms a bit of a workout too), an Everlast "Jolly" rope (the rope part is rubber - these turn really nicely, and the feel is better than a leather rope, imo) and a Title speed rope (a very light rope with plastic handles and rope - turns very fast).

The Jolly, or a similar medium wieght rubber rope would be a good choice to start with. As for technique, just practice, and don't try any fancy stuff at first.

It can be hard on your knees, so use decent cushioned trainers, or do your workout on a soft-ish surface.

I've posted this several times before because she is very pleasing to look at it is inspirational and educational to look at! ;)

However, if your coordination is not very good, or you trip up and don't get any momentum going, don't bother with the rope, just simulate the actions with your arms and bounce up and down on the balls of your feet.

The timing WILL come. And a heavy rope is suitable for faster skipping.

very good for cardio work and improving cordination.

Stand on the rope and pull your hands up they should be level with your hips.
That would be a bit too short imo. Midway between waist and armpits would be more comfortable (it is for me).
