I just don't want to waste over two hours of my life sitting watching a film. However next time I'm on an 11 hour flight to Johannesburg I will watch it as there's nothing else to do.

Javier Bardem is thoroughly chilling as Anton Chigurh the baddie in No Country for Old men - have a look on You Tube for the gas station scene, he's really menacing.

Loved it personally, although the franchise would have to do something utterly ludicrous for me to fall out with Bond TBH.

The rules of Bond are simple IMO, leave your brain at the door, sit back, relax and let let yourself be entertained.

I love Craig's darker Bond, it's re-invented the franchise for a new generation IMO.

I did feel a ittle cheated by the gadet deficiency that commenced with Casino Royale TBH, but time has past and I'm now actually happier without them.

I love Bond, and I believe that Skyfall has set the franchise up for another 50 years.

Have you ever considered how much Bond influenced the tastes of our parents' generation? Suddenly places like St Moritz and Barbados became trendy along with cigarettes, jet-setting, airports, casinos, fast cars; for most people the Bond flms were their first sight of that kind of lifestyle. That generation still lives that lifestyle too, especially as they can afford it now.

your parents led a slightly more exciting life than my parents

I always thought of the Bond films as old-fashioned, and Skyfall is really, really old-fashioned. There's nothing in any Bond film that I'd aspire to - the trashy glitz gets in the way of the plot, presuming there is a plot, and the characters, assuming there are any characters. Craig did put something different in to Casino Royale, but, honestly, if you had to sum up Bond films in a word, it would be............dull. Or tacky.

Anyroadup - which Bond? And you won't find the answer in Wikipedia

You're making the mistake of assuming that in the sixties and seventies people were as worldly as you and your generation. They had just grown up in a war with rationing and suddenly here was this immensely handsome, glamorous role model who lived the ultimate luxury lifestyle and shagged anyone he fancied. Product placement may have been in its infancy (Aston Martin is the only example I can think of) but the portrayal of the glamour of travel to exotic places coincided with long-distance jet passenger aircraft coming into service and overseas leisure travel becoming affordable.

Edit: don't forget that Britain and Britishness are on the list of ideas that Bond made glamorous. I bet Connery's Scottishness has done wonders for sales of Scottish paraphernalia, especially in the USA.

My sister was taking the widdle out of me for watching the credits, but >£9 for the cheapest possible ticket I was going to find out who provided backup catering for the third film unit in Tangiers just to get my moneys worth.
I always watch the credits, all the way through. Favourites so far are:-
- Cat Wrangler
- Second Assistant Assistant
- Extra Hair.

Caught just the opening section of the recent Top Gear Bond car special, which featured the first ever Bond car chase, along with a peevish letter from the producers to Sunbeam, who apparently had refused to lend them an Alpine for the filming, meaning they had to hire one locally "at considerable expense". Such 'expense' being 12 shillings a day (that's 60p in new money).

Didn't like it. I am a Bond fan and thought Casino Royale was one of the best. Then Quantum was so bad, but it was made during the Hollywood writers strike .
This one just didnt work. Macau and China locations appeared to be adverts for the respective places (oh look neon signs).
Spoiler
With all the backing of the army, secret service behind him, with all the tech, manpower, that was the place he took M! I don't think so.
