Caught just the opening section of the recent Top Gear Bond car special, which featured the first ever Bond car chase, along with a peevish letter from the producers to Sunbeam, who apparently had refused to lend them an Alpine for the filming, meaning they had to hire one locally "at considerable expense". Such 'expense' being 12 shillings a day (that's 60p in new money).

Ah! This explains something I remember from about 45 years ago... my parents were all agog because a pal of my Dad had bought a Sunbeam Alpine!

Yes I don't class the Niven version as a bond.

I like the new Bond, looking forward to seeing the latest film. One of the other Bonds I liked was Timothy Dalton who played it with a nice touch of menace. No-one does safari suits like Rodge, classy. Connery is just an old ham, dreadful old tosh.
Your sartorial influences have been exposed - Globaltie is right and you WERE influenced, threepocketsmcginty! I just hope you didn't wander around the West of England sporting it, and went somewhere you would make an impression - like Africa or somewhere exotic.
Has there ever been a James Bond film set in Africa, or Egypt?

@gbs - harsh words  Go and see 'Untouchable'

Clark sure looks swell with a dame on each arm, although Grace Kelly is taking the pith!

It is cgi rubbish. We persevered for 45 mins and then left.
There are many things you can label Bond with, being a cgi fest isn't one of them.

And I thought Daniel Craig reminded me of me...

Teef - your mum's caravan is well posh!
Yeah - but it was seemingly a bit boring, as it was a mathematics conversazione every time this group of friends got together - talking about diameters, circumference et al. When I grew up (I grew up?) I realised it was just pi in the sky.
...and I used to think it was about cocktales... You only live once.

Edited to say that Clark Gablend is an original 'Movember man'. If this Clark was the superman version, he could be 'Tache Kent'

About half way through that I just started to sob very quietly to myself. Ever so quietly.
