Slicker tyres for 24" wheels?

My kids have mountain bikes with wide chunkey knobbly tyres.

We are doing far more cycling on road than off and i'd like to change the tyres for something more suitable.

It's proving difficult finding 24" tyres that are OK for road use.

I'm not looking to spend a fortune as they will outgrow them pretty quickly.

Anybody any ideas please?

Would these be suitable?

A friend of mine runs the 700x28c version of those and they roll nicely and seem reasonably puncture proof.

I'd say they look quite good for the task you want them for.

Might be worth looking through the tyres on Chain Reaction as well
