Cracking a solo.
I don't wish to sound as though I'm banging on about this but your strategy is not a good one. In your post #47 you said you will take primary on the approach to a bend to increase your visibility to approaching drivers then get right over to the left when negotiating the bend. By doing this you are inviting the overtake, in fact it is quite feasible that a car approaching from behind that has seen you taking the lane may assume that you are moving over to allow the overtake because you can see the road ahead is clear. We agree to disagree then, I certainly wouldnt put myself on offer as your'e suggesting on a bend on a fast road, other than the approach. Even though I accept you think you may be increasing your visible presence to motorists your'e also drastically reducing their options should they come across you at high speed from behind not withstanding oncoming traffic.
Your positioning in the gutter will also not help when cars are approaching from behind at 60mph if they choose not to see you, you are as likely to get rear ended or side swiped whatever your position. You are however more likely to be seen if you ride in a resonable secondary and take the lane where appropriate than if you ride at the edge.
