Youre slightly incorrect Glenda, that advice was aimed squarely at you.![]()
You want people who disagree with you to get killed?

More of a "keep out of the way of 3/4 tonne of unpredicableness with steel shod hooves thing" I think.Class thing innit.

I was aware as I was typing that that there would be some examples of atrocious behaviour towards horse riders, and I also thought that you would certainly have experienced some. In my experience however I very very rarely see horse riders subjected to the same type of passes or squeezes which I see inflicted on cyclists, I generally see motorists sitting behind and then slowly and carefully passing in a manner which makes me green with envy. Although as I spend no time on horses whatsoever, I could be wrong.I have been out in the lanes of Kent with a friend who drives her ponies, and I can tell you some of the behaviour from drivers who considered that we were unjustifiably holding them up was appalling. But quite what the difference would be between cyclists riding two abreast and horses being driven really escapes me, so if drivers can be expected to cope with the latter using the road legally, surely they can cope with the former as well.
the funniest thing was Adrian thought it was fact....
no mate, Id miss your brilliant ability to cut and paste complete bollox and present it as your own.
Why does this trouble you? You said yourself the road is safe and visible, I can't see why you struggle.
So why are you offering "advice" that would make it likely I get killed?
You're not very intelligent doog, and you're a sick, twisted individual who wishes death on people when you lose an argument. You've done that before too, haven't you?
You're quite right. The horses on the roads around me, and it's not unusual for me to see more horses than bikes, are usually strolling along at little more than walking pace and they're quite often two abreast too.I didn't have too much trouble with motorists when I used to ride horses on the road. We weren't riding the ponies though. Two ponies side-by-side pulling an exercise cart is about the same speed and length as some cyclists riding two abreast. I was just pointing out to those who seem to think riding two abreast is antisocial and unwise that it is no different from a wide slow-moving horsedrawn vehicle, which is of course unable to single out.

We agree to disagree then.
excuses ? the solution is for cyclists not to cycle up the inside of HGV's....thats the solution . I live in a ferry port so feel qualified to post.
You have a history of claiming special knowledge that makes you an expert. You did it here:
You live in a ferry port, so you think the solution to cycling fatalities is for riders not to ride up the inside of HGVs. Despite the fact that that's not how they're getting killed. Whether you live in a ferry port or not. Have an opinion by all means doog, but stop doling out rubbish advice, someone might take you seriously.
I do indeed, I slow down and ask if I'm OK to come through.do you let them know of your presence if approaching from behind... apparently its one of their bugbears that cyclists dont do it hardly. WHOOOAAAAA HORSE
