Slime filled or spares

Right, the question is, do slime filled self sealing inners work or do I go down the traditional saddle bag stuffed with spare inners route?
I'm sure both is probably the best course of action but I don't do really long distances so if I can get 15-20 miles out of a self seal inner that would do.
If I saddle bag what are the essentials? I wouldn't want to over fill it with unnecessary spares.
I know this is basic stuff but I'm fairly new to this whole 'proper' riding thing and I can avoid the rookie errors by asking the non rookies on here.

Don't bother with slimes, get decent tyres and carry a spare innertube. In my saddle bag there is:
spare tube
tyre levers
multi tool
stick on patches
phone
£10
credit/debit card
CTC membership card
cereal bar
house keys

I think that any likely or unlikely mishaps are covered for my having the above with me.

HATE slimes....used one once and never again, under normal circumstances.

All inner tubes need reinflating over time and I can do without doing a Venkmann impression every time I open the valve

Go ahead and try slime. Because once you have and found out how messy and rubbish they are then you will have answered your own question.

pretty much most of the above but don't bother with patches. I've got the CTC helpline no. on my phone. Also i've got a card with my name, address and emergency phone no. on in case something happens that i never hope does.

Oh, awesome clip by the way I haven't watched that film in a really long time, but now I've just bought it on e-bay.
