Or, just use it as an everyday tool to make your life easier/ better/ more enjoyable. Pedals, no pedals, if it gets you about and works for you, then it's all good.
Precisely.
As I've thought for many years, if a bike is properly maintained and the rider is happy with the setup, regardless of what the bike is, or looks like, it doesn't matter apart from upsetting the etiquette of the purists among us - !

So here's an update on the device: I have found that my re-purposed 16" wheeled folding bike, given it's small turning circle, is also most useful around the house. It's like a highly manoeuvrable stool that takes the weight off my osteoarthritic knees and permits almost pain free household activities (cooking, washing, etc). The 4 wheeled Zimmer and crutches in the photo are almost redundant. The bar bag mounted on a cheap front rack is really useful for transporting goods to and fro from the allotment.

As I can no longer walk very well or for much distance, due to foot problems the idea that my Brompton is really a mobility device has occurred more than once. I can cycle much farther, and without the pain of walking. The real question is how do I get a doctor to sign off on my linear wheelchair so I can use it at airports/stores etc??

Yes, it would be wonderful if linear wheeled devices were legitimised as mobility aids. In my experience they also reduced the incidence of rotator cuff ailments associated with the use of crutches and manual wheelchairs
