What's the point in cycle specific trousers that don't have a chamois?

If you are doing commuting distances, then you want your arse covered, a bit of stretch, cuffs out of the chain, maybe a little bit of stealth reflective. Certainly if I wasn't planning to change, then I wouldn't want chamois - unless I was a nappy-fetishist.

Mind you, gap jeans (which have a bit stretch) work pretty well for me, just tuck the right cuff into my socks.
