Every branch of Lush can be sniffed out 100m away.

Funny you mention that, when I was a student, I worked for them for several years - I had a lunch break one time where this couple who must have been tourists were sniffing out the Lush shop and to my amusement they were following me down the road saying 'I can smell the Lush Shop, it must be near by'

Down in Meanwood we had a tannery,boy did that pong when the wind was right,but my best smell is my next door neighbours wood burning stove,it smells fantastic on these dark damp nights,it takes me back years.

Diesel fumes always make me smile, especially on buses.

They remind me of early ski trip , catching the ski bus in the cold sunny mornings to the lift. Took me a few years to realise and then a few more to figure out why.

Any recollections of industrial smells you miss ...

Not quite miss ...

I went to school in the Black Country and if the bus was late I had to take a short cut past two leather factories. In those days they used to have the hides in an open yard, marinading in huge pits of urine and noxious chemicals. Difficult to run and hold your breath!
