Not saying the OP is a novice, but it looks like the kind of situation a novice would find him/herself in. When vehicles park, they often like to shuffle a bit after the initial attempt. I bet this is the last time this will happen again, forewarned and forearmed and all that. Give a bit more room next time and you won't have any video footage worthy of watching over and over :tongue:

And would moving out further really have helped? Given the nature of the blind spot for the driver, that would have made the OP less visible, not more.

As for the comment about being intent on gathering footage, that just beggars belief.

My fault of course;

to close,
to fast,
wrong weather,
not chilled out enough,
not being sufficently defensive,
too girly
,

The Only person (or persons) at fault was (were) the one (ones) who thought it was good idea to put perpendicular parking along both sides of the street! Its an accident waiting to happen! Perhaps you could of mitigated/ anticipated things and you reaction was OTT but it was that design to blame.

Because when cars/vans 'shuffle' after finding their parking space, they don't tend to zoom out into the middle of the road.

That's what :smile:

If we're talking fault then, yes, I'd say it was completely the driver's. After all, it was the driver that reversed (blind? without checking?) into the road and across the OP's path.
