I was chatting with the guy who runs the mobile butty van on the Snake Pass near the reservoir. He told me that he was on his way to set up early one morning and saw some skateboarders descending to Glossop.

I couldn't believe it...so I had a look on youtube.....and there it was! 45mph is pretty fast, as quick as most cyclists

Last year I was overtaken by a skateboarder as I descended from the Col de L'Izoard. I never saw him again, so he either died on the way down or, more likely, beat me to the next town .....

Puzzle game procrastinator!
Longboards innit.

And you'd be surprised how quickly a skilled longboarder, not me, can stop one at speed.
Was the guy in front wiggling from side to side to scrub off speed? I noticed he also dragged a foot on the road at one point.

I don't remember the hill being that long when I did it in 2007 on my Hebden Bridge to Coventry ride - I must have still been pretty fit that year!

Wiggling side to side is Carving. Yep, it lets you fine tune your speed, and has a certain Zen gracefulness to it all of its own. Foot braking can help shed speed though it wrecks shoes and takes HUGE cajones at anything past jogging speed.
