I said "Chapeau".
Later on, I discovered that type 420 chains are also compatible with bicycle sprockets, and gave it a try.
It worked, I stockpiled again, and since, I mounted those instead of Gusset Tank, since they were greased instead of oiled, and thus rust easier.
It was first claimed that my continued sprocket usage (teeth broke off) posed a danger to myself.
Then it was claimed that it posed a danger to others.
Then that my motorcycle chain would be dangerous.
None of those claims were supported / explained.
Also despite I reported no problems with it over the entire period.
Without a derailer, and a sufficiently tensioned chain, how can a chain get off its sprockets? It's just a matter of not allowing the slack to increase that much.
My conclusion: the claims are unfounded, it's just scaremongering with irrelevant motives.
While a crank/spindle break, were this topic reports an example case for, is a clear danger / safety risk. Same for Shimano's hollow cranks breaking apart.
Such parts should never fail, as said, because it's human leg power, which is known, and unlike overload on a wheels axle, can't be changed.
A spindle/shaft break can be avoided by simply putting a reserve in the mechanical design. As I illustrated with figures in the online calculator, a 50% wall thickness increase, of the HollowTech2 design, towards the inside, adds a 29% torsion resistance at a weight "penalty" of 20 gram, as resulted by another online calculator, both linked here.
The "win" of Shimano's Hollow Light Religion (its entire assembly) to cheat in races, is reported as 130 gram compared to square taper assembly.
That safety reserve of 29% would reduce that "win" to 110 gram.
Yet, some here seem to equal such weight-again-increase as their conviction to the death penalty in race.

So with stockpiling chains, and your reluctance to change them, have you just wasted a load of money that you were trying to save. Impressive if you plan on cycling at 189 years old !

It's a good job 'our man' isn't an engineer. As I've said before, life is to short to ride a crap bike.
It's already known how: it's 20 gram more support, delivering a 29% better resistence against breaking of the spindle.

I said the stockpiling of chains evaded the later 30% price increase.
For your information - this practice is named "hampstering".
If price would have stayed, it wouldn't have made a difference > break even.
If price would have decreased, it would have been a bad decision > loss
If price would have increased, it would have been a win decision > win

About your claim "reluctance to change chains" - I replace chain when tensioner arrived at its end, a proper tension is needed, as said and as described in detail.
So your claim is wrong.
I DID became reluctant to change sprockets, Please Pay Attention!
Also, I became reluctant to use Hollow Technology, due to Bad Experiences.
Which this topic is an example case of.
I don't want to Limp on 1 Leg back or further home or for the rest of my Life LoL.
The same can be said about a graveyard so I wouldn't see longevity by default as a plus.
