I said the stockpiling of chains evaded the later 30% price increase.
For your information - this practice is named "hampstering".
If price would have stayed, it wouldn't have made a difference > break even.
If price would have decreased, it would have been a bad decision > loss
If price would have increased, it would have been a win decision > win
Speculation For Dummies. ;)

About your claim "reluctance to change chains" - I replace chain when tensioner arrived at its end, a proper tension is needed, as said and as described in detail.
So your claim is wrong.
I DID became reluctant to change sprockets, Please Pay Attention! ;)
Also, I became reluctant to use Hollow Technology, due to Bad Experiences.
Which this topic is an example case of.
I don't want to Limp on 1 Leg back or further home or for the rest of my Life LoL. ;)

So how big is the hamster's stockpile !

Do you still have that fetching pink suitcase on the back of your bike ? Is it an Ortlieb ?
That's not pink that's RED.
And of course not, it was something I bought that day.
I used it for the stockpile toilet paper I bought in 2011, that now costs double. ;)
Ortlieb is the same for cyclists as Back in The Days Millet Vests were for snobs. ;)

Not content with assaulting Shimano, you want to open up a second front against Ortlieb?

That's the cycling equivalent of invading Russia in winter!

Burn him for dissing Ortlieb. Pitch forks at the ready. Owner of two pairs of panniers from Ortlieb. Anything else is a cheap 'red' suitcase for buying old toilet rolls.

That was not a "second front" but an analogy.
Forum user fossyant asked about Ortlieb, I answered.
So any complaints about that subject,

In the UK it’s called hoarding and people who do it are subject to lots of derision similar to how people treat the village idiot.
Do you have a house full of toilet rolls.
