A friend gave me a snood as a Xmas present last year. I found it very effective in Jan/Feb/March keeping my throat and upper chest warm when cycling. I stopped wearing it in April then found myself behind a tractor which was kicking up a load of dust and straw off the road - and I regretted not having the snood to protect my mouth and nose. Since then I wear it every time I'm out on the bike - even a 4 hour ride in 32 degrees on Friday. As an occasional protection against black flies (I've been known to swallow a good 500g of them on a long ride) or against diesel fumes or just about anything being chucked up off the road, I've found it brilliant. Possibly my best Xmas present ever. I do get the occasional sideways glance from other cyclists - he's wearing a snood in June? - but I really couldn't care less. Is anyone else wearing them in the summer or am I in a minority of one?
