To right  but its the rain that makes it so beautiful.
That must be the reason I pedal 100miles to get there before I begin my actual ride;)

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
To be honest you can't really go wrong. No matter what direction you go, there are places that are stunning and show Wales at its best. But of course in powys we have serious hills. To the North or South flat rides can be found, but in powys, they are far and few between. So be prepared.

I grew up in N Wales and went back this weekend and wished I had my bike. Llechwedd looked brilliant for MTB and didn't exist when I was a kid , but the valleys and hills around Llanberis were where I cut my hill teeth and I miss them desperately. had some serious Hiraeth going on all weekend.
fave way up Yr Wyddfa Crib y Coch then the Pyg track . big up to the poster who took their young un up , hope it was the Llanberis path !

Yeah it was Llanberis Path that we did. Looked at PYG and Miners but thought Llanberis was better suited. Mini-Me was really excited when we reached the top. Took us 3 1/2 hrs up and 2 3/4 back down with a half hour at the top. Most of the summit time was waiting for a picture as there were that many people up there that day.

There's a reasonable bus service allowing various "round trips" - eg if you stop in Beddgellert near the start of the Gladstone path, you can get the bus up to Pen y Pass (avoiding the invariable full car park), then walk up PyG or Miners' tracks (or Crib Goch if you like a bit of sport), and make a round trip of it

I live near Llandudno , nice coastal rides , love the cycle round the great orme , stunning views
A bit further along, I've done some riding with Llandulas as the start point (some nice climbing if you go directly inland). For cycling with people that don't want to be in traffic, the NCN 5 has a long off road section along here - avoid the idiots that don't put their dog's on lead, and it's really pleasant.

I have problems figuring out where to go once I start to hit the big, fast roads though.
