Though I have been frequenting the place since it first opened.

People remember their first customers.

In the town I used to live in I was a regular at the Malaysian restaurant for takeaway (once or twice a month, sometimes every week ). After a while, I would just ring my order in, give my first name, and tell them what time I would be getting back to town. Service was excellent, the specials were extra special, no variation to the menu too difficult etc.
Then after I had lived in town for about 15 years, I went in and there were party decorations everywhere. I wasn't allowed to pay because they had been open 15 years that day, and I was one of their first customers

I sometimes give my customers little gifts. Mind you, some of them do spend £1.5 million a year with us!
