Hope Mrs Magnatom is feeling much better. Pleurisy's not much fun - I remember when my ex had it.

Can you get your 3.5yr-old son to come and harass my almost-9-yr-old daughter to try learning to ride a bike ? She point blank refuses to even get on the one that my folks bought her 3 Christmases ago; if I even so much as mention 'bike' to her she tells me she's NOT talking about it and changes the subject.

I'd LOVE to go out cycling with her in the summer to the park, but it's just not looking likely that it'll ever happen. She'll end up being an adult learner (if she ever DOES learn to ride a bike or a scooter or swim). She's highly intelligent and very advanced for her age, though unfortunately in cerebral matters only.

It could be she is either a bit timid about not being able to ride, or simply that she doesnt actually want to learn. If the latter is it right to push, lol? Sell the bike on and if she complains there is a glimmer of hope

Its what my parents did.

It's great when they just suddenly getting going like that for the first time. My boy did it at 3 years 3 months when his mother launched him down a hill as he was at that stage where he was ready to ride himself but was just too scared. Within a year I had him doing an eleven mile route around Crail in Fife where my folks live.

Aw Schweet! I'm so looking forward to my nephew mastering it, and he's only 16 months, so I have a while to wait.

Will the little 'un be getting a helmet cam? Actually, I know it would be a lot of weight for him, but it would be quite fun to see the result, a Mini Mag eye view. It could go on the handlebars...

Hang on, who was it posted some footage taken with a cam attached to a likeabike's handlebars?

He he he! I'm a pro choice helmet wearer, but for kids I think it is more important due to the lower speeds, closer to the ground etc.

Goo, he had a pedal-less bike (islabikes of course) from when he was 2 and a half. That made a huge difference. He had his balance sorted before he got this bike for Christmas.

As for the next Chris Hoy? Hmmm. Is there money in cycling?

Lane dsicipline is a hot topic, so when I came across this today I was shocked. No lane discipline at all, wobbling everywhere, and he even mounted the pavement!

So let me know what you think.

Shocking behaviour, I blame the parents...;)
