maybe the bin men f'ckin hate you?

I read this as:

1. Bin men put bags in silly place
2. CAr does not see bags and hits them (simplification)
3. Binmen fail to clear mess they have at lease partially caused

Asking Council to clear is not unreasonable.

Call-centres today largely consist of poor people sitting at a screen reading off a script. Often they have some intelligence. Sometimes, as in this case, they don't have the ability to think for themselves.

I reported a pedestrian crossing where the lights were out a few weeks ago. The operator asked me for the asset number for the lights.

that pinpoints the column , which i think you know. traffic lights and pedestrian crossings have them now which is a bit of a bummer for the repair crews as when we used to get a call for a fault on traffic signals before them we used to claim the minutes for all the columns as the repair order was never specific.

its hard to tell how your post was meant to be read.
maybe the operator was thinking for herseldf that time.

did you get the bins cleared?

I worked on out local authority help line for 6 weeks (it was that good). We had no scripts just a computerised form to complete which did not include any category such as 'hate crime'. Maybe it depends where you live?

We did frequently get calls due to litter scattered when the bins were being emptied. Regardless of the reason we passed the complaint to the bin dept and they couldn't refuse!

The angriest complainants were when the bin men left the bin blocking their drive and they had to get out of their cars to move them. I think the bin men did it on purpose..

I was asked as if the public should know to find and record the asset number when noting a complaint.

Yes, the bags have gone, but there's still a liberal amount of rubbish strewn around.

thats not on then. in cheshire they have a metal plate banded on at about 2mtrs high with asset no and a telephone number with the wording " faulty column call xxx xxxx xxxx and quote XXX/XXX "

in Flintshire it was just a stencilled on number on the access door. which resulted in drunk electricians removing the doors and altering the num, bers to a random sequence

Some people just aren't happy unless they are moaning.

Here's a thought - instead of whinging about it being somebody else's responsibility, why not spend probably no more than a couple of minutes picking it up and chucking it in another bag or a wheelie bin if you have one? You've probably spent longer on here moaning about it that it would have taken to do the job.

If it happens every week then you might have a case for reporting the matter - but as a one off, not really. Just get on with it.

A bit of collective responsibility now and again never did anybody any harm, and if everyone did just a tiny bit, then it might even make the street where you live a tidier and happier place.

I take more than my share of community responsibility, as I assume that you do. Our street is a shining example of how things should be.

This thread was about people allowing systems to overcome simple logic, that's all.

...... but you still felt the urge to have to ring and bother the Council about it ?

If that's the case then the binman should have referred it on himself, not just left it.

Do you know he didn't? I wouldn't expect him to whip out a phone there and then and call the deadpigeon thunderbird team to come. He might have someone to inform back at depot.

Someone put a dead duck in a recycling box, before my time there. Needless to say, it stayed there....
