I worked in a Vauxhall dealer valeting trade-ins and new cars for sale. They got the Datsun franchise and I remember getting into and driving the first Datsun Cherry - what a revelation! It was massively superior to the poor old Vauxhalls, the Chevettes and the VX4/90s... terrible cars they were. That was the day the British motor industry began to die on its feet.
