Thanks! She's decided she wants a home birth. I don't think we'll be able to look our neighbours in the eye ever again!

I thought about it with my first one but a bit late down the line, and then went for it with no 2 and no 3 - and it was a far nicer experience for me. And you have about 2 or 3 years to move within 400 m of a primary school to get a place!

As for the OP ... in 2013!! Still I expect they will ask for a loan of some money to finance the deed!!

Both of mine were home births and it was the best decision ever. The Midwives were brilliant and you have their undivided attention and expertise, with an ambulance & doctor on standby, if they had said I needed to go to hospital I would've trusted their judgement and gone.

At least you know your neighbours, in hospital you never know who's going to be next to you. That sounds so snobby but I am shy and it would have been purgatory to have been in a ward with people I didn't know.

Agree that home birth is much better for everyone.
Had number 1 son at the hospital (very scary), number 2 son at home. It was great to spend the 1st night all together.

I've got 6 1/2 years to wait for the beer to start flowing!
