,,,,nursing my self home on the Dolan CX with a torn ligament in the back of my right knee, when a bloke on an old boner of a bike overtakes me.

Well me all in my cycling gear wasn't gonna have that, I caught and past him easily and kept my speed up for about 5 miles.

12 miles later at home, I am now thinking I should have shrugged it off, because the back of my right knee is now very painfull and swollen.

Looks like van power for a few days until my knee settles down!!!!

I think I done something similar last week, although probably not actually a torn ligament but a sore one, ironically cycling was actually good for it. I hope yours heals soon iGaz

I'm not sure if it is torn or not?!?!

The back of my right knee, mainly the joint area hurts/aches like hell, and I find it really hard to put pedal pressure down as it seems to make it worse!!

Having a guy on an old boner of a bike overtake is not good for injuries as I had to try and regain my pride, and have probably made things worse!!

Doesn't sound like a ligament (I should know, having had 3 knee ops!). Swelling in the back of the knee could be something called a Bakers cyst (popliteal cyst). Look it up on google.. But that is a guess, and I am sure it could be many other things. Go and see your doc. It is always best to get these things checked out.

if you think you've torn a ligament it is very worth getting it check over by the doc (or go to a walk-in center if you have one near)

My knees and right shoulder ligaments were torn last year. Took about 8 weeks for the shoulder. Knees still play up 6 months later. They do take a lot of extra strain though

I can quite happily cycle behind girlies without the need to overtake

I've been doing that for the last. 4 months.
