Yep Cav can actually go up hills very quickly, just not as quick as a Schleck.

If you look closely at the tortoise picture you can just make out Davy in the background sweating as he tries to keep up. He's also eating a chicken sandwich.

If you actually saw Mark Cavendish on an Alpine climb you would see that not climbing is an extremely relative term. It's a bit like how fat Paul Gascoine was when he was a player.

Ahh, but you see, I can climb, when I want to, I just descend so much quicker... short, with a low center of gravity helps...

Over a randomly chosen distance, Whitstable to London say just for example, it doesn't seem to even out into the kind of speed that gets me home for lunch

Random!!? Pah, you dragged me up hills knowing full well I would falter.. and to make matter worse, you 'took a detour' to Canterbury, for extra measure...

I shall just refer to the journey home from the summer soltice ride last year when I dragged your butts along the A4 from mile 150 to mile 220+.. pah! :boxing:

Huh? I was actually feeling quite strong by that point (having struggled on the run in to Stonehenge!). We had decided we weren' racing back to London apparently and just forgot to tell you. I also seem to remember miles 100 - 150 being quite slow for you (the famous 'Teef variation!)

Davy always leads the way. Actually, I just popped into that thread to check if he went the distance...yes he did! Andy Allsop's rendition of him in 'night-mode' is sufficient for now. I just couldn't bring myself to post a fleshy representation. Chugging along as a group circa18mph along a busy A road was perfect group riding, but you're right about you being in front of us Davy - it was not a pretty sight. Do it fixed next time ok? (Especially those slopes toward Marlborough.)

Curiously, am slightly faster on the fixed on small inclines at the moment.. could be the thought that if I slow down too much, then ive had it...
