I had a couple of beers yesterday.

Found myself at Westfield Stratford with time to kill waiting for my train, so had the 'obligatory' pint at Tap East. I didn't enjoy it. Good beer but I realised I was drinking it for the sake of it rather than because I really wanted it. I must remind myself in future that I am allowed to walk past a pub without stopping for a drink, even if it is a pub with excellent beer.

Also had a bottle of beer with dinner (son also had a beer, wife had wine) and I enjoyed that much more. Resisted the temptation to have another - this I count as a minor victory.

Going to the cinema this evening. Have already decided that I don't need my usual beer to accompany the film. Again, it's a case of reminding myself that it's not obligatory.

I've been on medication since the beginning of September due to a slipped disc so I can't remember the last time I had a drink. But that's no great achievement for me considering the small amount I drink normally anyway.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
I managed dry January this year, but in October I have had a drink every single day, and as it is Saturday night I am about to have another. That is partly because my wife was away this week so I called into the local every night, only had a couple at most apart from the normal Monday night with the lad and Friday when I overstayed my welcome. I never had any intention of doing a sober October but I will be taking it easy from now on, just having the usual Monday night pint and one weekend evening.....well maybe 2.....

Not sure why a load of teetotallers come on this thread to tell us they don't drink anyway!
It's a piece of piss for them, like me giving up yoghurt or @Crackle giving up aubergines.
Yeh, I'm gonna give up being nice

F*cking ars*wipes!!

I think most of us (*cough* @summerdays *cough*) are going for total abstinence. From chocolate and bread, in my case as I rarely drink. It's working: I've not weighed myself for a few weeks but I did yesterday and I have lost 5lbs.
We will see... I'm seeing friends later today and if everyone is enjoying a drink then I may join them

But I've just managed another day of no cake or chocolate in penance for my possible sinning (and that's harder than no alcohol by far though I did stare longingly at the alcohol aisle in the supermarket last night!)
