No it does mobile too, picked one up on a bridge over the A1(M) this afternoon, they catch the A1 & A19 traffic this way in North Yorkshire, speeders don’t see them till it’s too late, the only downside is the emergency braking from 90 mph to 60 mph, nearly causing a pile up, then accelerating away again like it’s a Formula One race

Aye and the swerving within the lanes to rewarm the tyres up is also a bit off putting....

Must have done almost 300 miles on the M6 this week - unusual for me and very few people speeding - maybe a handful but makes me wonder if they've finally realised how much petrol is per mile at 80 mph ?

A1M North from M62 all week, and A19, still being passed by the usual suspects, at the usual ridiculous high speeds, even this afternoon in heavy rain, but it’s ok they have their rear fog lights on, absolute ***** the lot of em

My village WhatsApp group is full of this. I wouldn't exactly say that it boils my piss, but it's a bit depressing that my neighbours do this.

The most worrying thing to me is that you'd not only have to be speeding, but you'd have to be remarkably inattentive not to spot the mobile camera vans at the places they're typically located around here.

Basically I would go with the "they are there to catch people and make them think about doing it again" concept

They don;t do themselves and favours when then put the vans pointing at the bottom of hills so people are more likely to be a couple of MPH over
BUT - you are supposed to pay attention!

The worse I have seen actually caught me
basically there was a 40 mph sign just coming ou tof Bangor when I lived there
It was almost invisible, especially early in the morning, because it was in deep shed under some trees
and due to the trees it was almost unreadable anyway due to moss and whatever all over it

anyway - one morning I left for work and drove as normal
speeded up under the trees and proceeded to to the A55 expressway
I did notice a speed van in a layby by the cemetery - which was no unusual
all as normal

then noticed an article in the local paper about people complaining about a speed camera and changed speed limited with no warning
They had actually taken the almost invisible speed sign down - but left the post there - overnight
and put a new 40 mph sign a mile or so up the road

and on the same morning - put a speed van in the layby pointing at the exit from the trees
which was now 30 - but was always 40

Now - if they had put a sign warning of pseed limit changes then I would say "my fault"

but no
they just put a speed van there on the day the speed limits changed

apparently they "got "dozens and dozens of people of all kinds

As I had never had a ticket before I got a speed awareness course - which was actually interesting

but eventually all the tickets were cancelled because a local group from the counsel estate found the whole think had been cocked up and not been properly authorised
including ignoring advise on telling people about it

Now - to be clear - I am not saying vans are bad, evil and the work of the devil - like some people online seem to

but when they do what they did there they just give "proof" to that sort of person

Well if you're caught speeding when driving unless there are very extenuating circumstances such as driving a seriously ill person to A&E for example then you cannot complain, and even then you shouldn't speed although I would if it was a loved one involved. I'd take the consequences afterwards. We all know the law and should know the speed limit where you are driving so if you get done that's it.
In saying that, I'm sure I'm not the only one to be grateful for the knowing flash of lights from an oncoming car warning of a camera van ahead.
I might not have been exceeding the speed limit but I appreciated the heads up.

I don't do Social Media but for mobile attended cameras round me such Social Media posting is a complete waste of time. I'll occasionally see a Police Officer stationed with a speed gun on way to supermarket and 30 mins later on way home yhey've slways moved on . They never stay in one place for long so if reading such posts by the time you get yjere they'll be somewhere else.

I suspect just bored people with nothing to say find something they can post online.
