I have sold 2 bikes over the past fortnight. I thought I would try to trim the fleet down from 8 to 2. The problem is that I bought Jannie a 2016 Genesis croix de fer 20 a couple of months ago and it is such a lovely bike for all occasions.
So lovely, in fact, that I bought myself one yesterday. They are getting difficult to find in the right size and I thought it was time to make a move before they were all gone.
I will change the tyres to Vittoria Voyager hyper 32cc tyres and use the originals for winter tyres. I have ordered a tubus rack and I will change the saddle for a Charge Spoon or Pan and put on some clip in pedals and the jobs done until next year when I will change the wheels and get a SON dynamo and tubeless tyres fitted.
The master plan is to use it for TCR next year. I will be taking it to Monte Grappa at the end of July. The bike is surprisingly nippy for a heavy steel bike. It takes a short time to get going but then the weight of the bike seems to add to the momentum. It would be nice to think that those physics will work going up Monte Grappa. But if it does`nt the bike is very well geared for hills. I will let you know if it is geared for mountains.
