I have not fitted a rack before...or there extra fittings I need...I presume I do not have to remove the mudguard as it would go on top/over? and use the same screw point

Yes it should fit and should go over the mudguard as long as they are not too wide.
It's how I used to have one on my commuter.

To fit it uses 4 normal hex bolts.
