I stumbled upon this from the IHUK.

It gives some budget accommodation suggestions where things like bike storage, etc. are catered for. Prices start from £8 per person per night.

Wow. I've been searching already a while for something like that. The Dutch alternative for it is 'Vrienden op de Fiets' and does the same on the continent, mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium and the very western part of Germany. However in the UK, 9 hosts participate already in this cyclist friendly homestay formula. Prices are max. 18,50 euro pp/pn, breakfast included.

I notice they mention the Dales Bike Centre. I called there whilst on tour recently because I had lost a bolt from my rack. The shop was closed but not only did the owner open up for me, he also refused payment for the bolt other than a charity donation. It's a really nice place the owners are lovely.

Thank you Kendalcottages for that excellent link. I would like to go away for the odd weekend, but do not want to stay in a hotel and pay for facilities I do not need/use.

I have looked at the one in Torquay, there is also one within easy reach in the Malverns.

Would also be good for a tour of Scotland next year or 2012.
