Went out to the car yesterday to find a nasty scratch down one door panel and across the bonnet. On closer inspection there's also damage to the passenger door , rear window, and in two more places across the back.
Who the feck does that?!
We live on a dead end estate a few miles from town, you can't just "pass through" so this has most likely been done by someone who either lives close by or was visiting.
We also park on a driveway, right up by a wall, so they've very deliberately walked around the car to do this.
It would seem we are the only ones to have been hit -the police asked if I might know who'd done it.
Erm, sure, because I'm in the habit of peeing people off so much that they'd come round in the middle of the night to take revenge!!
This is our compromise car, so we could save a bit of money, it's 3 months old!!! Mr6 is not a happy man.
The kids won't be happy come xmas when we gift wrap them the body repair!!

That is sad, certainly an insurance is in place however this as you know will still cost you. Is there any way it could have happened somewhere else and you only noticed it once back home.

Apart from one brief trip to the supermarket, the car's been on the drive all week.
I'm fairly sure mr6 pats the bonnet every time he walks past - he'd have noticed!

Had the same thing happen to a previously owned car right outside my door, deep scratch from headlight to tail light. I was furious as I'm sure you and Mr6 are.

What on earth is going on in a person head when they do such a thing, vadalism is one of many crimes I have understood why.

It's a really nasty thing to happen. I had two door something keyed about 12 years ago and it cost me £70 a panel for repairs.
It found that it also makes you feel suspicious of people.

A few years ago my car was getting scratched weekly, I had no idea who was doing it and my car was the only one on the car park that was being scratched.
After a few months nearly every panel had a mark on it and by this time I had give up and couldn't care less, one morning I went down to find a dent in the valance on the rear door, now this really pissed me off so while I was in town I went to the police to show them, they said which surprised me “you know the person who it doing this, who have you upset”.
I had a long think about this and I came up with no one, I'm well liked in my area and I try to help people out that I know.
A few months later I close friend was diagnosed with cancer and I was there for him took him to he hospital and made sure he got all the financial help he could, the scratches still continued.
Fast forward a few months he was dying in hospital and I went to visit, his family were all there and out of the blue he said “has the scratches stopped” I replies “couldn't care less now the car is ruined and it would cost too much for a respray”.
A few days later he died, at the funeral I sat next to one of his friends and he said to me “I'm surprised your here, he hated you, he was so jealous as you had everything he wanted”.

The scratches stopped...........

That was one reason, when we had the XKR, I never left it outside the house, for any longer than was required

When I had my 110 CSW, that developed (quite light) scratches along the side of it, but quite low down
Now that could have been branches, or a rucksack/coat, but who know?

(we are on a route to the local Comprehensive School)

Oddly, the Octavia's never been touched, as it's generally filthy, & anyone touching it will have fingers covered in road-film, etc....

@Sandra6 - have you looked at your insurance? If you're fully comp a lot of insurers will cover vandalism as a no fault claim. Best to look at your policy document before phoning them though...
Unfortunately even a non fault claim can load your policy despite any NCB, for example the Admiral group. I found this out when someone drove into me! It may not be so with all insurers but you won't know until you call by which time as you say it'll be too late

Mindless vandalism is the act of true pond scum

Either that or you are an environmentalist/activist/some sort of protester and do it as a statement, or the owner of said vehicle has pissed you off
