I'd check the completed prices for similar bikes, it may not go as cheaply as you expect

Blimey, it sounds as if they are trying to pinch your bike bit-by-bit.

I agree that the best remedy is a good dusty hack bike, I am often puzzled as to why people take their pride and joy into town and leave it bolted to a tree all day, either they should buy a bigger lock or a cheaper bike for the commute.

The fact that you know this is "ongoing" must be a massive frustration to you, and would make me fell pretty paranoid, or at least make it difficult to think of much else all day except, "will my bike be there tonight and will it work properly if it is!!"

Good luck sorting this. Hack bike is the way to go

Still it pleases me that the bastard wanted my bike so much and couldn't get it. All I have is a slightly shorter lock. I must admit the chain did its job. Even if the bastard had succeeded in sawing through one side of the link, he wouldn't have been able get the next link through the gap. He'd have had to saw through the other side too.

I would never leave a bike I would miss in the open in britain. Mine are carried up 3 flights of stairs and locked in my office. In Spain its a lot different. I happily leave bikes poorly locked (or not at all) with no probs at all, tho' not in seville.
Makes you think.

Well, many of us have to unfortunately...... I won't ride a crap bike...why, I'll break it very quickly.....

I do not ever leave it in total wide open areas - if in an open space, it will be right in the sight of a reception.... otherwise I go multi defence strategy...i.e. the buggers will need a stack of stuff to take mine....

Steady on chaps. Never get into a bidding war on ebay - that way lies massive price-inflation. Always be prepared to let it go and wait for the next one to come along. I mean, you're up to 17p already - you've got to draw the line somewhere.

Might be worth checking out auctionstealer.
