Did you have the Limited Editions, Silver Jubilee & Blue Smarties tubes?

I had quite a lot, but not a silver Jubilee one.

 Future generations will thank me when they want to study citrus wrapping in the 20th century.

If serious, and you are ever looking to donate them, have you thought about contacting somewhere like here? It is where all the Smarties stuff went. They are in the middle of moving as their premises were costing too much and it wasn't big enough, but you can still contact them:

I donated my collection of Smarties tubes and various other things to The Museum Of Brands, so future generations will already say I am a sad fuc.... Say I am wonderful!

They used to come in boxes

Never got any of the boxes of that age, although, I (possibly unbeleivably to some) managed to get some tubes dating from the 1960s, '70s and '80s off Ebay (I started collecting in 1991, so very pre Ebay!!).

In fact, because it is an international brand, and because they also do non sweet items too, one can find loads of wierd and wonderful things on Ebay from over the years. You'd be surprised at how many things there are out there and a lot of countries do, or at least did, have their own versions of things, meaning true variety!

I tell you, if I was ever on 'Would I lie to you?' I bet that fact about my Smarties collection would come up! :giggle:

It was a cheap thing for a kid to collect, they were readily accessible, and, they weren't very big, so they would all stack up into a box.

Still do, depending on where you are.
Anyone ever manage to complete the alphabet in one colour of lids?

Curiously, I was never so bothered with the lids (although they made the tube complete and were sometimes part of a particular design, so I would never dream of throwing them away). To me, it was always the artwork and the (sometimes subtle) variations created over the years and internationally that interested me.

I don't think people quite appreciate just how many times something like that can be changed over a period of a few years until you see all the versions together.

Beer glasses just aren't the same!!
