I work away from home quite a lot so my riding is restricted to a 15 mile round trip commute Monday and friday, and en a long run at the weekend.

So why after getting through a long week, did I wake up yesterday with man flu and a bad chest which meant I couldn't get out and ride!

And does anyone else get depressed if they miss their long ride? I've missed it two weekends in a row now :-(

I suffered the germs a few weeks ago not nice :cold: I know what you mean about the riding me and 2 of the chaps on here had geared ourselves up for the London to Brighton with the old cars last Sunday we made it to HPC but 2 out of the 3 of us were saturated and freezing so we trundled off to Paddington and got the train home that was my first gutted bike experience. Comparing last Sunday to this weather wise it makes it even more annoying :cursing:

Totally agree. 1st time on my bike today for a month and was going stir crazy. Fortunately the weather has been crap the last few weekends which was at least some consolidation. Had a really good ride out today - kept it short at 21 miles.....but still paying for it now - shoulders are killing me! (but will still do it again next weekend if possible)

Funnily enough I was told at work last week that I am too pushy, and have too strong a personality.

So as well as pissing me off, this, coinciding with me having a crap weekend has made me decide to be off sick tomorrow and I'm hoping to get out on the bike and make me feel better!

Yes !!
Missed 2 weeks in a row due to people always inviting us to dinner on a Sunday which means the only chance of a long ride is out the window, don`t people know me by now and know how much it means to my mental health ?:addict:
My really bad chest has resulted in 16 weekends of riding lost, and counting ...

I don't get depressed if I miss my long ride. I have interests other than cycling and the weekend long ride gets displaced by equally pleasurable activities on occasions. If ill ness gets in the way I don't rail against my misfortune I just find something else to do instead. Last year and the beginning of this year my cycling was derailed for four months by a dose of chronic cellulitis. I was too distracted by the pain and discomfort of the ailment to fret about not cycling and then used the liberated time from cycling to learn some of the intricacies of Photoshop image editing. I was back to riding 100km audaxes within three weeks of returning to cycling.

Oh I have loads of other things to do, but if you are restricted by life generally then you have fewer opportunities and miss them more

If life gives you lemons chuck them in the bin and order a beer!
