If ever a song encapsulated the way a teenage bloke is like a headless hormone, it's this. And it coincided with my teenagerhood.

I don't mourn my youth, I'm a lot happier than I was then and in retrospect I've gained everything and lost nothing. However, there are some songs that make me think back to some good times, in particular and for very different reasons:

This is a lovely later accoustic version. And in some ways, that first line, 'Let's put our heads together / and start a new country up' still says a lot to me.

I remember this when I was working a part time at Tesco (Salford) when I was at college. It was on in the warehouse all the time.

Very very popular at discos in the mid 70s, quite simple yet quite hypnotic beat, brilliant song, as soon as i heard it i just broke out in a big cheesy grin.
