Can you go to "My Computer" plug the MP3 player into your computer, and then post a photo of your screen?
Is this what you mean?

Your walkman is on the F: Drive. Simply go to the folder where the music you have is saved. Then copy and paste it onto, I'm guessing the music folder in Walkman (F:smile:

Thanks, but "simply" doesn't come into it when we're talking about techie stuff. You grossly overestimate my abilities!

Your walkman is showing as a Drive called F:

simply Go to the folder where your music is saved on your computer, right click and choose copy.

Then simply click on Walkman on the left bar.

simply double click music

Then simply right click, and choose paste.

Errrrm... errrr... I was just messing about with one track trying to get it to bliddy work! Abba was first alphabetically. The rest of my collection is macho headbangin' biker metal music, honest!

I am guessing it needs to go in the Folder called Music rather than where you have it at the moment.

I'm surprised you're having these problems with a new Sony, but I have a whole bunch of old ones that used to rely on a piece of recognised crap software from Sony called Sonic Stage, and after much googling tracked down this open source alternative that runs on any OS and actually works. Whether it'll work for your player I don't know, but I'd think it's worth a try. If it does work, it works really efficiently and painlessly. http://symphonic.sourceforge.net/page.php?4
(Oh, it runs on top of Java, so if you don't have it you'll need to install that too.)

OK.... I have followed the simple step by step instructions kindly supplied by @PhilDawson8270 , and still nothing .
Here is the "This PC" page now. Red MP3 is the name given to a playlist I copied from WMP..
NB... Abba has gone :okay:.

See the file above walkman MUSIC (under activities, not the music under Walkman)
Open that up as a separate page, side by side with WALKMAN page so you can see both.
Open the music file. Look for an album or song you want to transfer.
Drag that album or song into the WALKMAN MUSIC file

The "playlist" is simply a list of files for Windows Media Player to use in the chosen order.

What you actually want is the files themselves. Where it says "TYPE" you want to be looking to get the files that have MP3 there instead of WPL

Thanks for all the above help. Given that my older Sony MP3 player works fine, I can't help think that there is a compatibility issue, so I have returned it and got a refund. Problem solved. The in-store techie person didn't seem surprised that I was having problems, so perhaps they know about it.
