is this a ploy to steer the thread away from the car:whistle:

I understand all the P*** taking but seriously what else can you get for £6600? a four year old Focus/Astra/Megane with 3 months warranty....... The skoda citicar (copy of VW up) is the next cheapest car at £7500 and half the size

I like it. Simple, functional, French (with a bit of Romanian), buttons to run. Good call on getting the central locking though, a four door car without it would be a proper pain in the derriere.

Reminds me of the saying, in heaven the French do the food (& wine) and the Germans do the cars, in hell the French do the cars and the Germans do the food (& wine).

Thats what I thought - Stereo was no problem as I work in car parts, black bumpers not an issue but key fob central locking as opposed to unlock door with key and let wife and Little-un in by leaning across car there was no contest

Open top car in Yorkshire! Now that is an optimist. :rain:

Actually I am quite amazed at the price of Dacia and if you are going for a new car then it looks good. Personally I just would not buy a new car as even if cheap they drop so much in value. If you want a warranty then just buy one. They are not exclusive and don't need to be linked to a purchase.

Good value Simon, so long as it suits your need who gives a stuff what anyone thinks.

10 years ago my Mrs got some ribbing for buying a Daewoo Kalos, an unfashionable, Clarkson joke type car. It suited her needs exactly though.
10 years later it still looks good, still works faultlessly, still economical, still quiet, still going strong. All it's cost her apart from RFL, insurance and fuel, since she bought it is a bit of servicing (cheap) and a couple of tyres.

Some of her friends who poked gentle fun at her have gone through any number of 'fashionable' cars that were supposedly the bogs doo dahs and they have been let down by all of them.

This is my take on cars too, functional and cheap to buy, run, own. When we needed a runabout a Citroen C1 (shoot-box as it's described) fitted our basic needs entirely and was cheap as chips (and a hoot to drive too). OK, BMWs are better built, and drive better, but most basic cars these days are good enough for most peoples avarage needs. The money saved on 'prestige' brands is better spent on bikes and the family, not an ego-trip on the drive.
