Actually quite an entertaining game. Hardly one that matters in the grand scheme of things, but much more fun than many more weighty encounters. Just needs a few more goals (like most of the games so far).

with any luck this scoreline will continue, SA will be knocked out by the next game and there might be less vuvuzelas from now on.

Well, that's ruined it. Cheap sending off. Referee was totally suckered by the striker there, as he's been doing all night. The standard of refereeing has been pretty good so far but that was a poor decision.

Oh, silly silly challenge. Feet first. No need for that. There was contact, minimal and didn't he make the most of it, but that's all it takes.

And the horns are quiet.

Got to disagree on that, it was a clear trip and the ref had no choice. Good game and Uraguay look like they could trouble a few sides.

I missed this one.

Yes, it certainly shut the vuvuzelas up! Hopefully there will be many fewer from now on!

As for the penalty / sending off:

a) The penalty decision was clearly and unambiguously correct - excellent decision!

xx( The red card was debatable. Did the trip deny a clear goalscoring opportunity? The ball was moving away from goal but maybe, if he hadn't been tripped he would have got to it and turned it? Anyway, for a split second decision - probably correct.

Hardly. But we'll leave it...

I agree that it shouldn't have been red - the player had basically kicked the ball across the goal and ran over the keeper in hope.
