Day 1 of our Spanish tour
Malaga to Ronda.
This was always going to be a tough day with more ups then downs, having to climb up valleys and a mountain pass.
It didn't start well for me suffering from a migraine. But plenty of fluids and some painkillers helped. By the time we had stopped at Casarabonella for first drinks break it had abated. Good thing too as that was when the major climbs started. And what stunning climbs they were. Ever upwards through forests, fabulous rock formations, valleys and ever more stunning views. Our second break stop was at the mountain town of El Burgo, where we all fancied a beer but it seems the whole towns population were in all the bars, it was far too busy everywhere. So we had to make do with a garage coke cola. Oh well.
Ever onwards and upwards the climbing became harder and hotter with temps topping out at 35.6° It felt hotter in the direct sun and there was very little shade. We finally reached the mountain pass of Puerto del Viento and from there it was a long, winding downhill all the way to the town of Ronda. We we are staying.
To say we are knackered is an understatement.
A deserved beer beckons.

53.21 miles
Over 6000ft of climbing including one mountain pass
