Not exactly cheap and I'm not too sure about the grey colour, but there is a 54cm 725 Mk2 in the clearance section for £1800

That's the one I test rode at the shop! I really liked it to ride - 12 miles or so. The 54cm is definitely my size. The guy in the shop happened also to be 5' 9" and was so helpful in fitting. He watched me as I pedalled around checking my leg/knee/pedal/arm reach etc. We specced out together what would be good ie 54cm frame, GRX 46/30 cranks, hand built wheels. When I got home I added it up; came to £2k with extras. Not sure I want to spend that much. I've seen some used in v good condition for less than half that. Just tricky to find in 54cm size. I saw that one on ebay. Looks rather 'well used' - looking for something in better condition. There is also a titanium one not too far way but it's 56cm. I might go over to try it out.

The 56cm will probably be too big for you.

Seconded. I’m 5’9” and the 54cm is ok but fits large on the elan. I have the same size on the audax and that feels smaller.

My other option was to buy the 56cm titanium version near me. If it didn't fit I could buy a new mark 1 steel frame and transfer everything across. But I'd have to also pay the mech at least £100 to do that. Then sell the titanium frame for maybe £300. Perhaps I could buy the titanium one for maybe £600 - there were zero bids as it is collect only. So: 600 + 440 + 100 = 1140. Then selling titanium: 1140 - 300 = 740. Optimistic figures perhaps. And even then I end up with a new frame with used components.
