Need some new cleats and the cheapest I can find them is £18 (not near a Decathlon), can get a set of pedals with them for £25.

I've already got one spare pair but I begrudge paying 18 quid for a couple of bits of plastic and I might get a tenner for the pedals at the next club auction. Unless anyone on here needs some pedals without cleats?

A pair of SPD cleats for about £14? Two M 520 pedals including cleats, £22.

Madness! ( ...and don't get me on the subject of ten speed chain quick links....)

Probably this belongs in the Know How bit, but just what sort of wear should you get out of a pair of SPD cleats? Is c.1,500 miles unreasonable?

Well, I did 4k miles or so in 2009, 6.25 last year, and 3,100 so far this year, I reckon about 3/4 of at least wearing the same pair of shoes with the same pair of cleats, and they're still fine...

I only got 200km out of a pair of look keo cleats, although they did do a lot of unexpected walking, doesn't do a lot for the lifespan of a cleat. I've now got new cleats and cleat covers.
