SPD SL - Light Action

For my last bike I ordered some SPD SL Pedals - Despite being an experienced SL user I had difficulty unclipping - I swapped then for SPD SL Light action which have been great.

Now I have ordered a bike for winter use so need some pedals - but can't find light action ones anywhere ? - any idea what happened to them ?

Discontinued probably, try eBay?

There are some here potentially, phone first to confirm they are the right ones

Thank you.

Thats helpful - as you say will have to call to confirm. It does seem light action is something now in the description rather than a model name .

Think 540 model number was the light action ......hopefully they are all light action now.

The PD-RS500 seems to be the light action? https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/shimano/PD-RS500.html

The one you mention is Tiagra grade according to Shimano EU
https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/tiagra-4700/PD-R540.html

Didn't putting them on the loosest tension work?

from here:

the link I posted to merlin was about the cheapest I think...

I was faced with the same thing SPD -SL pedals ( generic) the cleat release tension was too high on loosest position.
Ignorant of the light -action pedal available , I looked elsewhere .

Got a Look Keo Max pedal and cleat used super cheap . Instantly in love with it and the easy peasy release (opinion)
So I bought a new pair in white for my bad-ass Wilier Garda. Downside is the cleat for that system wears rapidly , and more so than anything I'd used. If I'd known about the SPD-SL light action might have chose that over Look Keo.
I dunno , the Keo was quite appealing with the composite body. No regrets.
