A specialized bicycle Jammed and Injured my wife: The email to specialized came back as blocked: specialized hung up on me when I called the company. I called right back and specialized put me on hold for a half hour and then hung on me again. We would not want this to happen to anyone else:

Did you contact the retailer you bought the bike from? That should be your first post of call.

Hard to see or know what happened. Faulty component? Shifting error? The bike doesn’t look brand new but I stand to be corrected. Agree with the points upthread that the retailer should be contacted.

I hope your wife is ok.

EDIT: Perhaps you might be fairer in not calling this a ‘review’ of Specialized bikes as it doesn’t really reflect what brilliant bikes they make. But I think I know why you have titled the thread thus.

Your contract of sale is with the retailer who supplied the bike so contact them in the first instance. It looks like the fd is not correctly adjusted. When was the bike bought?

Contact the shop where you bought the bike not Specialized direct. It looks as though the stops on the front mech need tweaking to stop the chain coming off. It is not a Specialized issue, the problem lies with whoever set up the bike (the retailer or maybe the previous owner if not a new bike?).
My bike is set up correctly but I occasionally have had this happen when I try and change both front derailleur and rear mech at the same time.

Perhaps you should call yourself and see if you'd continue with the call much past "your bike injured my wife what are you going to do about it" tone you've implied.

Besides, how is what is pictured a fault of the manufacturer? Seems to me like the all too common litigious mentality people have these days.

Hey op welcome to the forums. I have to agree with everyone else here. I've had several spesh bikes and they have all been fantastic. I also bought from an LBS that set them up correctly. I can't quote tell from the pic what the problem is apart from if you rotate the cranks then the chain will just hook up to the chain wheel's teeth?

Hope you post some more as I'd love to see what bike setup you have, where you guys ride etc. How long have you and/or your wife been riding? Is that a crosstrail?

My thoughts too, bike should have been set up right by the seller , not spesh`s problem although not polite .
The put on hold issue could be down to the recall of 13,000 bikes atm

I’ve got a funny feeling TrailBike won’t be back, his mission was just to post his ‘review ‘, which is a shame as we might never know the full story. Let’s hope I’m wrong.
They won’t be back, as it’s clearly not recent and they have a chip on their shoulder, based on what I just found doing a Google Reverse Image Search. Very useful tool indeed!

This is the first link, from the results, which says it all really:

So the story boils down to "my chain came off". Big deal, my chain must have come off dozens of times. So put the flipping chain back on and stop bleating about it. What a big crybaby!

Good work @bpsmith A very sad and angry man going about it in a very peculiar way. Nowt as queer as folk.
