How do you find the position on the hoods/bars different to a flat bar with bar ends?

Have a look at the whyte sterling, a sub 10kg flat bar bike

Selling you on a road bike with drops may be pointless, but have you tried a mix of them? Geometry can be very different from one to another. The ability to change position on the bike gets more and more useful the more miles you do, as does hunkering down against headwinds.

No only tried one, not so bothered with hand positions but yeah I see the advantage of getting under the wind

It's made of carbon, that's why it's so much more

Doubt it'll as quick as a £1500 carbon roadbike on good wheels ;)

If spending £1500, get a hybrid and a roadbike ;)

That doesn't really matter as I expect we are not the same age/gender/size/weight/level of fitness/same injuries

BUT I am quicker on my roadbikes than my Whyte Cambridge ;) Assuming same route/traffic conditions/level of luck with traffic lights. Road bike average 14.5-15.5 average, hybrid sub 14 on Marathon plus tyres with rack and mudguards
