I cannot see past the comfort of the Secteur Comp I have. I don't even want to replace it despite it coming up on 5 years old. I imagine a roubaix must be like riding along on a cloud. When I come to upgrade if ever, I will probably go straight for a roubaix. But then I like being comfortable over long distances even if that means sacrificing a little speed/aerodynamics.
Hi sorry missed your post Lesley ,yes reviews from everyone about the Roubaix is encouraging,my Secteur was great and I'm opting for the Roubaix I'm the same as you, like to get round comfortably and I'm no Mark Cavendish anyway lol so Roubaix would fulfil my bike criteria I guess.i will post pics when I get round to buying it soon.

@lesley_x is spot on with this. The ride quality when I went from a full on road bike to a Roubaix improved beyond all my expectations.

Then when I upgraded the wheels to RS81s comfort increased to an even higher level. Can't see me ever wanting a change.

Try both models on a longish ride, you may be surprised at the Roubaix's capabilities
Yes I looked at both in shop but never took any out The Roubaix sounds the one and as you have said seeing as you own one they are better for comfort

The Secteur I sold on to another CC member. The Roubaix was upgraded to all Ultegra components and wheels and kept in the shed for 18 months whilst I cycled like buggery on my Van Nich Ti. It now looks like this.

Got the Roubaix out of the shed last Sunday, dusted it down and did a nice 100 miler. Totally falling in love with it all over again.

My first roadbike was a Secteur Triple, I loved that bike and still have it. I bought a Tarmac in 2013, it is no less comfortable than the Secteur and I actually ride further on it. It's not just geometry, the Tarmac is carbon so less buzz but it is so much faster for the same perceived effort that it is a less tiring ride overall.

Yes my Secteur was good too, bought as an entry level to see if I took to cycling and did get the bug,was always gonna use it as a first bike with a future upgrade in mind,I sold it as the cube Gtc agree pro was on a great offer, bought it on a whim, but never really took to it was not comfy compared to secteur but I was swayed by the offer it was on,in hindsight I should of waited, didn't want to hear your Tarmac is just as comfy lol,Roubaix is on offer, the 2015 model is dearer but does have a new dampener seat post, guess they are going the way Canyon and Trek have done with their seat posts,2014-2015 same spec and both nice paint jobs but £300 more for 2015 so looks like it's the 2014 although the problem is the offer bike they want full payment the other I can buy 0% finance, decision is gonna be harder than a 8% hill climb.:bicycle:^_^

Good luck with it! I don't think the Roubaix is a mistake at all, I test rode a couple of Roubaix's and really liked them, I just found the Tarmac sharper which is what I was looking for. The point of my post was that you shouldn't overlook the Tarmac as some hardcore sufferfest machine, you can still set them up to be very comfortable.

I've seen more of these wheels with bearings shot and freebody crunching(sealed and the loose ball version) than I care to remember,Achilles heel of specialised bikes

Yep, spin an AXIS wheel, then spin a Shimano wheel, for instance and you'll see a world of difference as to how smooth and free wheeling they are or are(n't) in comparison.
